Kerem Adigüzel
Kerem Adigüzel (born July 1, 1987 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss author and Koran exegete . He sees himself as an Islamic reformer who accepts the Koran as the only source for Islam .
Life
Kerem Adigüzel comes from a Turkish family who immigrated to Switzerland. He grew up in St. Gallen , attended grammar school there and then studied at the University of Zurich , where he obtained a university degree in mathematics with a minor in business informatics. He learned Arabic at the IH Cairo International Language Institute . Adigüzel works as an officer (militia) in the Swiss military and works as a software developer .
Adigüzel works as a Koran translator and translator of articles and books from English and Turkish on philosophy and Islam. He is a member of the Istanbul Koran Research Group (IKRA). He gives lectures, leads workshops and seminars and appears on the radio. He writes texts on the topics of Islam, modernity and integration.
Adigüzel founded the Al-Rahman association in 2017 - with reason and dedication . Its aim is to convey an enlightening Islam and to found an open mosque in which women are allowed to pray , homosexuals, Shiites , Sunnis , Sufis etc. can pray together. Adigüzel runs a YouTube channel that deals with various topics related to Islam.
Positions
Adigüzel is of the opinion that the only source of Islam is the Koran ( Koranism ). Islam was distorted by the hadiths , so that the central aspects of the Koran were violated. He is of the opinion that only three prayers are prescribed in the Koran and that one should only call on God during the prayer and not say blessings for the prophet. He understands the saying of the Koran "Follow the Messenger and Allah" as meaning that one should follow the message of the Prophet, the Koran. Since the prophet himself only followed the Koran, one automatically follows the prophet by only following the Koran. Adigüzel describes himself as a "monotheistic rationalist".
