The Heysham Nuclear Power Plant is located in Heysham in Lancashire , England , United Kingdom .

There are two power plants (Heysham A and B) with two power plant blocks each on the site of the nuclear power plant . All four reactors are EGR with a total installed electrical output of 2490  MW . Heysham A was first synchronized with the network in 1983 and is expected to operate until 2019 [obsolete] . Heysham B was first synchronized with the grid in 1988 and is expected to Template: future / in 3 yearsoperate until 2023 .

The power plant operator is EDF Energy (until 2008: British Energy ). British Energy planned to build eight more nuclear power stations in 2008, including in Heysham.
