The decommissioned Trawsfynydd Nuclear Power Plant is located in the United Kingdom on Llyn Trawsfynydd near Trawsfynydd , Gwynedd , Wales and was in operation from 1965 to 1991. The two block nuclear power plant was the only one in inland Wales.

Reactors

The Trawsfynydd nuclear power plant comprised two reactor blocks. Both reactors were Magnox reactors with a net electrical output of 195  MWe and a gross electrical output of 235 MWe. Construction of both reactors began on July 1, 1959. The first reactor block became critical for the first time on September 1, 1964 . On January 14, 1965, the first reactor block was synchronized with the power grid , and the second on February 2 of the same year. On March 24, 1965, both reactors went into commercial operation. The second reactor block was shut down on February 4, 1991, and the first two days later.
