Kerstin Liebich (born January 22, 1972 in Ribnitz-Damgarten ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and managing director of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania National Association of People's Solidarity . From 2006 to 2011 she was State Secretary in the Berlin Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs .

Life and work

After attending school in Prerow and Rostock , Liebich studied from 1991 to 1994 at the University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice in Berlin and graduated with a degree in administration . From 1993 to 1996 she also studied political science at the Distance University in Hagen, while studying or working alongside her job .

From 1993 to 2002 she worked in various functions in the district office of Berlin-Hellersdorf (from 2001 Marzahn-Hellersdorf ), including as an advisor to the district mayor Uwe Klett and in the control center for employment and training promotion. From 2002 she took over political offices as district councilor and later state secretary.

Kerstin Liebich was married to the Bundestag member Stefan Liebich (Die Linke).

politics

Liebich has been a member of the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) since 1999 , now Die Linke. From 2004 to 2006 she was a member of the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district board.

From 2002 to 2006 she was councilor for health and social affairs in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office of Berlin. From December 7, 2006, Liebich was State Secretary for the areas of integration and work in the Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs, headed by Heidi Knake-Werner (from 2009 Carola Bluhm ). After the change of government following the 2011 parliamentary elections ( Senate Wowereit III => IV ), she was put into temporary retirement on December 6, 2011.

In 2001 Liebich was a PDS candidate for the mayoral election campaign in Bernau; in the runoff election Hubert Handke (CDU) received more votes than she did. In 2012 she was a candidate of the Left for the office of Lord Mayor of Rostock. The incumbent Mayor Roland Methling received 53.8% of the votes in the first ballot; Liebich received 13.8% of the vote.

Since April 2012 Liebich has been the managing director of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Association of People's Solidarity .
