Kevin Penkin

Kevin Penkin (born May 22, 1992 in the United Kingdom ) is an Australian musical composer.

Career

Kevin Penkin was born in the UK on May 22, 1992 , but grew up in the Australian metropolis of Perth . His interest in computer game music was sparked when he heard the Phendrana Drifts song in Metroid Prime . In an interview with VGMO in 2012, he described the use of electronic synths and acoustic instruments as “absolute bliss.” In 2011, he began his career as a composer and contributed pieces for the short films Play Lunch and The Adventures of Chipman and Biscuit Boy . In the same year he developed the music for the video game Jūzaengi: Engetsu Sangokuden, together with the Japanese composer Nobuo Uematsu . He also worked with Uematsu on the music for the games Norn9 and Defender's Quest II: Mists of Ruin .

In 2015 graduated Penkin at the Royal College of Music , the professional film music with the Master from. In 2016 he worked for Kinema Citrus on the music for the anime adaptation of the game Norn9 and for the OVA Under the Dog . The following year he worked again for the animation studio and contributed the soundtrack to the anime series Made in Abyss , which was recognized for best music at the second Crunchyroll Anime Awards and entered the Japanese album charts .

In 2018 Kevin Penkin developed the music for the video game Florence , before he was hired again by Kinema Citrus in 2019 to compose the music for the anime series The Rising of the Shield Hero . With Dusk and Dawn, two separate soundtracks were released for the series on CD, download and stream. Penkin also composed the music for the anime version of the South Korean webtoons ( Manwha ) Tower of God .

Penkin is now back in the UK.
