Norn9 ( NORN9 ノ ル ン + ノ ネ ッ ト Norn9 Norun + Nonetto ) is an anime series by the Studios Kinema Citrus and Orange , which is based on the Otome game series of the same name by the developer Otomate . The twelve-part anime series was shown on Japanese television between January 7, 2016 and March 31 of the same year. The publisher KSM Anime released the series in German-speaking countries on DVD and Blu-ray .

On March 2, 2014, during the Norn9 with Ark & for Spica event, a cinematic implementation of the game series in the form of an anime series was announced. The series was created in the animation studios Kinema Citrus and Orange under the direction of Takao Abo , who made his directorial debut. The series script was written by Natsuko Takahashi , the character designs were created by Yukari Takeuchi .
Kevin Penkin , who composed the music for the game series in collaboration with Nobuo Uematsu , wrote the music for the anime series. The voice actors for the main characters in the game did the synchronization of the characters in the anime.
Nagi Yanagi , speaking on the series Aion , announced that she will sing the opening credits of the series Kazakiri . The credits song Zero To Kei was interpreted by Kaori Oda .

Koharu remembers the words of a man who once gave her her name. She should wait for the arrival of a ship floating in the sky. One day it will, of Kakeru who has the special ability plants to manipulate collected and Norn , brought said airship. On board the ship, which was built by the organization The World , there are nine other young people with psychic powers. The norn has its own cosmos with water , land , gardens and fields.
Your job is to protect humanity . But soon they ask themselves the question of the meaning of the journey together: Does The World really exist or is it all just a deception? The future and past of young people are becoming increasingly blurred. The crew members have nine days to travel through time to find out everything about themselves and existence in general.

The anime series was shown on Japanese television on AT-X , Tokyo MX , BS11, and SUN TV from January 7 to March 31, 2016 . Sentai Filmworks secured rights to an English-language broadcast of the series. The company also released the series on DVD and Blu-ray in North America.
The series was broadcast in North America on AnimeLab , Anime Network Online - which also showed the series in Ireland , Latin America, South Africa , Turkey , Canada , the United Kingdom , North Africa , the Netherlands , Scandinavia and the Middle East - and on the streaming media Platform Hulu shown.
In Germany , the anime publisher KSM Anime secured the rights to the DVD / Blu-ray release of the anime series in German. The publisher released the anime on three DVDs / Blu-ray discs. The series was rated 12+ by the FSK , with the exception of the first, second and fourth episodes, which were rated 6+.

- Koharu ( こ は る )
- Koharu is an affectionate, kind and cheerful girl with the ability to manipulate fire . Because of the tremendous and destructive power of her ability, people around her referred to her as monsters, causing her to forget her name. She got her current name Koharu from Shiro, who also told her about the "Norn", a magical ship. Since she is the newest member on the norn, she has little knowledge of the ship and is therefore very careful of her surroundings.
- Kakeru Yuiga ( 結 賀 駆 , Yuiga Kakeru )
- Kakeru is a cheerful, gentle, and friendly boy with short, blonde hair. He has the power to manipulate plants . Because of his sadistic streak and his penchant for teasing others, his comrades think he's either a good tactician or just being mean to others. He wears a cuff on his left earlobe that reminds him of his father.
- Senri Ichinose ( 市 ノ 瀬 千里 , Ichinose Senri )
- Senri is a reserved hikikomori who has the ability to tame water . Since he is not strong enough to use this ability in all his strength, his brother Akito took part of his powers thanks to the help of the robot Aion.
- Tōya Masamune ( 遠 矢 正宗 , Masamune Tōya )
- Tōya is a strict, intelligent boy with short, orange hair. He can look into other people's pasts , and in order to use this ability he needs an object from the person concerned. He is the son of the director of the organization The World and the person who contacts this organization when problems arise. In order to prevent that he involuntarily uses his ability, he covers his right hand with a glove .
- Mikoto Kuga ( 久 我 深 琴 , Kuga Mikoto )
- Mikoto is an elegant and distinguished girl with the ability to create force fields with which she can protect herself and other people. Daughter of a posh Japanese family, she was raised to be a calm, grown-up girl with a sense of responsibility. She values her friends very much, sometimes so much that she gives up her own safety and emotions for them. With the exception of her best friend Kaguya, she has never made contact with boys, which makes it difficult for her to get used to life on the norn. She has long black hair.
- Natsuhiko Azuma ( 吾 妻 夏 彦 , Azuma Natsuhiko )
- Natsuhiko is a handsome boy who, like Mikoto, takes his job very seriously. He wanted to become a scientist , instead became a weapons dealer . Despite being a descendant of the inventors of Aion, he contradicts the Reset, believing that doing so could abuse science and destroy vital research. Therefore, he chases the children with the skills to prevent them from successfully performing the "reset".
- Sakuya Nijō ( 二条 朔 也 , Nijō Sakuya )
- Sakuya has been Mikoto's best friend since childhood and can foresee the future . Like Mikoto, he grew up in a noble family. He promised to protect with girls that he loves until his death. He has long, white hair, which he knots with a black hair band. Sakuya cannot control his ability, but appears in the form of quick visions.
- Itsuki Kagami ( 加 賀 見 一月 , Kagami Itsuki )
- Itsuki is a flirtatious boy who, through his constant attempts to flirt with the girls, arouses suspicion in his fellow men with his relaxed attitudes. He inherited his ability to direct dreams from his late sister Kazuha. He uses this ability to occasionally show others what they really want. He likes to tease Mikoto.
- Nanami Shiranui ( 不知 火 七 海 , Shiranui Nanami )
- Nanami is a calm, shy, and seemingly callous girl with short, purple hair. She is able to erase other people's memories. Even though she is very delicate, Nanami has great physical strength. Nanami is a talented Kunoichi and carries blades with him at every opportunity . After erasing an important memory from a friend, she begins to loathe her ability and tries not to be close to anyone anymore.
- Akito Shukuri ( 宿 吏 暁 人 , Shukuri Akito )
- Akito is Senri's older brother. He is rude and violent. Akito has long, dark blue hair. Since his younger brother could not control the ability, he absorbed it with the help of Aion. He asked Nanami to erase Senri's memories so that he could live in peace. However, she also erased his memories of his family, which is why Akito hates Nanami. He is a gifted cook and shows signs of a Tsundere character.

- Shirō Yuiga ( 乙 丸 平 士 , Yuiga Shirō )
- Shirō is Kakeru's father, believed dead. He is responsible for the conflicts in the world that arise from his attempts to speed up history to travel to the year 2056. He wants to revive his late lover Haruka . Shirō is a very intelligent technician and weapons manufacturer . During his trip he met Koharu and gave her her current name.
- Sorata Suzuhara ( 鈴 原 空 汰 , Suzuhara Sorata )
- Sorata is a boy from the Heisei era who accidentally traveled back in time and got onto the Norn. He is looking for a way to get back into his own time.
- Aion ( ア イ オ ン )
- Aion is a cyborg who was invented by Sorata in his own timeline. Aion's task is to initiate the "reset". Aion often manifests as a girl with whitish blue, curly hair and a white dress, but can also take the form of a boy. Although Aion is a robot , she loves Sorata more than anything. She freezes Sorata and wakes up again as a child after the fourth reset so that he can live forever. However, this leads to a repetition of all events.
