Kfar Ruppin (כְּפַר רוּפִּין 'Dorf Ruppins' ) is a kibbutz in the Bet-She'an Valley around five kilometers southeast of Bet-She'an in northern Israel . As a member of the kibbutz movement , it falls under the jurisdiction of the Valley of Springs regional administration .
history
The kibbutz was founded in 1938 as part of the tower-and-palisade movement by a group called "Massad" of immigrants . The immigrants settled in the area under the British mandate . Most of the kibbutz members came from Germany, Bohemia and Austria. The place was named in honor of Arthur Ruppin , who is also known as the "father of the Zionist movement". In 2018, 493 people lived in Kibbutz Ruppin. The area of the kibbutz covers more than 4000 dunams .
In addition to operating agriculture and aquaculture , the kibbutz produces plastics in a factory that is managed by non-kibbutz members.
Nature in and around Kfar Ruppin
A special feature of Kfar Ruppin are the public gardens that surround the kibbutz with around 50 hectares . The area is also known among ornithologists, as it is one of the most important areas of bird migration in northern Israel on the African-Eurasian bird migration route . A Beringungstation the SPNI is therefore settled in Kfar Ruppin.
