Kfar Tabor ( Hebrew כְּפַר תַּבוֹר Kfar Tavōr , German 'village of Tabors' ; Arabic كفر تافور, DMG Kfar Tāfūr ) is a village in the Galilee region in the Northern District of Israel .
history
The village at the foot of Mount Tabor was founded in October 1901 by Jews of the first wave of settlement (" Alija ") under the name of the Arab mountain village Mas'cha . The settlers came from Zichron Ya'akov , Metulla , Rosh Pina and Shefaya .
In 1903 they renamed their settlement. Menachem Ussishkin , a Zionist leader, had been astonished when passing through that the Jewish settlement did not have a Hebrew name. According to his proposal, the settlement was named after the nearby Mount Tabor. The place has 4262 inhabitants (as of 2018).
Since 1988, Kfar Tabor has had a community partnership with the German community of Eppelborn .
