Giyasettin Sayan

Giyasettin Sayan (born April 4, 1950 in Hasköy , Turkey ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) of Kurdish origin.

He has been the migration policy spokesman for the left-wing parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives since November 30, 1995 .

Life and work

After finishing school in Turkey, he finished his studies at the FHW Berlin in 1980 with a degree in business administration (FH). He then studied political science at the Free University of Berlin and received his diploma in 1984. From 1985 to 1998 he was a social advisor at Arbeiterwohlfahrt Berlin e. V. in the social counseling center Spandau . He speaks German , Kurdish , Turkish , Arabic and Persian .

On May 19, 2006, Sayan was the victim of an attack by two alleged right-wing extremist violent criminals in Berlin-Lichtenberg. The perpetrators were not caught and the prosecution's proceedings were terminated.

Political party

From 1982 to 1995 Sayan was a member of the Alternative List , later Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen , and from 1987 to 1988 a member of the Executive Committee.

MP

From 1994 to 1995 he was a member of the Wilmersdorf District Assembly . Since November 1995 he has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives, as a member of the executive committee, migration policy spokesman for the left-wing parliamentary group and a member of the committees for health, social affairs, migration and consumer protection and for cultural matters. He is also a member of the Redistribution Foundation and the Kurdish Community of Berlin. His constituency is Lichtenberg-Hohenschönhausen . Sayan consciously moved to East Berlin a few years ago in order to set an example. He is particularly active against right-wing extremism and for questions of migration policy, in this context he also spoke out on the Sürücü case . Sayan gave a lecture on March 13, 2013 in Trier under the heading Anti-Semitism is part of organized Islam .
