Rosh Pina ( Hebrew רֹאשׁ פִּנָּה Rosh Pinnah , German 'head of the corner' , Plene :ראש פינהalso written “Rosh Pina”) is a town in the Upper Galilee ; it belongs to the northern district of Israel . The city was in 1882 of 30 immigrant families from the Romanian city of Moineşti founded . Rosh Pina means "corner stone" and is quoted from a psalm verse ( Ps 118,22 EU ), which is at the bottom of the coat of arms (see picture on the right).
history
Rosh Pina was one of the first modern Jewish settlements in Palestine , which was then part of the Ottoman Empire . The settlement, which Samuel Pineles helped to prepare, was the first Jewish settlement under the patronage of Baron Edmond James de Rothschild in 1883 . Today the place is an Israeli local association .
Demographics
In 2018 Rosh Pina had 3,120 inhabitants, mostly Jews . In 1948, the year Israel was founded and the outbreak of the Palestinian War , the town had 346 inhabitants.

Rosh Pina is located north of the Sea of Galilee , about 2 km southeast of the city of Safed at an altitude of 420 meters above mean sea level . North of Rosh Pina lies the Hule Plain with the remains of Lake Hule, which is actually a swamp area that was drained in the 1950s .
