The Kichatna Mountains form a glaciated mountain group in the west of the Alaska Range in Alaska (USA).
geography
The mountains are located 110 km southwest of Denali . The central part of the Kichatna Mountains form the Cathedral Spiers , several rocky mountains, including the Kichatna Spire , with 2739 m the highest point.
The approximately 1800 km² mountain group is bounded in the north by the Dillinger River , Shellabarger Pass ( 1007 m ) and West Fork Yentna River and in the west by the Jones River . Earl River , Simpson Pass ( 1158 m ) and the eponymous Kichatna River form the boundary of the Kichatna Mountains to the south. The mountain range is drained to the Yentna River in the east and to the South Fork Kuskokwim River in the west .
The more than 1000 meter high rock walls of the Cathedral Spiers offer various difficult climbing routes that were only climbed at the beginning of the 21st century.
