Kim Ji-yoo (born July 14, 1999 ) is a South Korean short tracker .

Career

Kim first appeared internationally in March 2015 at the Junior World Championships in Osaka . There she won with first places over 1000 m and in the 1500 m superfinals, in the all-around the silver medal and with the relay the gold medal. The following year she won the gold medal over 1000 m at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer . She made her debut in the World Cup at the beginning of the 2016/17 season in Calgary . There she took 19th place over 1500 m. At the following World Cup in Salt Lake City , she won over 1000 m and with the relay her first World Cup victories. She came second there over 1500 m. This was followed by further wins with the relay in Shanghai and Gangneung . In addition, she took second place in Shanghai over 1000 m and 1500 m. At the 2017 World Championships in Rotterdam , she won the bronze medal over 500 m and the silver medal over 3000 m. In February 2017 she won the gold medal with the relay at the Winter Asian Games in Sapporo . At the end of the season, she took eighth place in the 1500 m World Cup and fourth place in the 1000 m World Cup. At the 2018 Junior World Championships in Tomaszów Mazowiecki , she won the gold medal in the all-around with three first places and one second place. In the 2018/19 season she won the relay in Salt Lake City and the 1500 m in Dresden . She was also five times second and once third and at the end of the season she finished sixth in the World Cup over 1000 m and second place in the World Cup over 1500 m. At the 2019 World Championships in Sofia , she won the bronze medal over 3000 m and the gold medal with the relay.

In the following season, Kim won two World Cup victories over 1000 m and 1500 m. In addition, she achieved second place and third place twice and thus reached tenth place in the World Cup over 500 m, fourth place over 1000 m and second place over 1500 m. At the Four Continents Championships in Montreal in 2020 , she won the gold medal with the relay.
