Kim Kum-il (born October 10, 1987 in Pyongyang ) is a North Korean football player .

Career

Kim appears internationally as a player in the April 25 Sports Group , the club of the Korean People's Army .

Kim led the North Korean U-20s to win the U-19 Asian Cup in 2006 as captain . He scored four goals during the tournament as a playmaker and was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. A year later at the Junior World Cup in Canada in 2007 , Kim was one of the outstanding players on his team as team captain and is described in the technical report as a "strong dribbling striker with good direct play" and "strong in one-on-one situations" . At the end of the year he was named Young Player of the Year by the Asian Football Association .

In 2005 Kim made his debut for the North Korean national team in qualifying for the East Asian Championship . In 2007 he took part with the national team in the King's Cup in Thailand, in 2008 he was part of the squad in the final round of the East Asian Championship and came on three appearances as a substitute. During the successful qualification for the 2010 World Cup , he also completed three short appearances as a substitute in the final qualifying round.
