life and career

Childhood and youth

Mikaela grew up in New York and spent a lot of time in her father's Brooklyn studio Mission Sound . There she got to know several instruments, including bass , guitar , piano and drums , as well as producing music and the music scene. During these years she drew her inspiration from the rock music of the bands Led Zeppelin and T. Rex , as well as from Jack White . At the age of eleven she was offered a recording contract, which she and her father turned down with a view to graduation. After high school, Mikaela moved to Los Angeles to study at the USC Thornton School of Music , which she gave up after a year in favor of her music career.

Music career

On February 3, 2018, King Princess released her debut single 1950 , with which she achieved greater fame for the first time after she had built up a small fan base in the years before with her songs uploaded to the Internet platforms YouTube or SoundCloud . 1950 pays homage to the 1952 book Salt and its Prize by Patricia Highsmith , to the LGBTQ community , and to queer love.

On June 15, 2018, she released her debut EP Make My Bed .

Personal

Mikaela Straus is the great-great-granddaughter of the German - American businessmen Isidor and Ida Straus, who both died in 1912 when the RMS Titanic sank.
