The King River is a river in the north of the Australian Northern Territory .

geography

River course

The river has its source in the southeast of the Nitmiluk National Park and flows from there to the southwest. It passes under the Stuart Highway about halfway between Mataranka and Katherine . At the mouth of the Dry River it turns its course to the northwest and crosses under the Victoria Highway at Tony Green Crossing , 30 km southwest of Katherine. At the same time it turns west and flows into the Katherine River about six kilometers southwest of Carbeen Park .
