Sir Kingsford Dibela , GCMG (born March 16, 1932 in Wedau , Milne Bay Province , Papua New Guinea , † March 22, 2002 in Port Moresby ) was a Papua New Guinean politician .

biography

After completing school, he himself took up a job as a primary school teacher in 1949 , which he held until his election as President of the Weraura Local Government Council in 1963.

After the sovereignty of Papua New Guinea on September 16, 1975, he was elected a member of the House of Assembly and was Speaker of Parliament from 1977 to 1980.

On March 1, he was appointed governor-general to succeed Sir Tore Lokoloko and held this office until February 27, 1990. In 1983, he was appointed Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael and St. George by Queen Elizabeth II .
