William Skate
Sir William "Bill" Jack Skate (born September 26, 1953 in Port Moresby , † January 3, 2006 in Brisbane , Australia ) was a Papua New Guinean politician and statesman .
Life
He was Prime Minister from 1997 to 1999 and Speaker of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea. His party, the People's National Congress (PNC) was a coalition partner in the government of Michael Somare .
In 2005, Skate was ennobled. He was a member of the United Church in Papua New Guinea .
He died of a stroke .
