Church of St. Prophet Jeremias (Vrhpolje)
The Church of St. Prophet Jeremias ( Serbian : Црква Светог Пророка Јеремије / Crkva Svetog Proroka Jeremije) is a Serbian Orthodox branch church in the village of Vrhpolje in the western Serbian Okrug Mačva near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina .
The church dedicated to the Holy Prophet Jeremias was built from 1995 to 1999. It belongs to the parish of Gornja Bukovica in the deanery Azbukovica the eparchy Sabac the Serbian Orthodox Church.
location
The church is located in the hamlet of Udrž belonging to the village of Vrhpolje . The village is located in the historical region of Azbukovica, which today belongs to the Ljubovija Opština .
In the churchyard there is a memorial for 12 Serbian civilians who were burned alive as a deterrent on August 14, 1914, during the First World War by the 109th Landsturm Brigade of the 16th Dubrovnik corpus of the Austro-Hungarian army in Donja Bukovica.
On the west side of the church next to the entrance are two memorial plaques for the Serbian soldiers from the neighboring town of Caparić who fell from 1912 to 1918.

The church was built from 1995 to 1999. And inaugurated on July 24, 2010 by the Eparchen of the Šabac Eparchy , Lavrentije (Trifunović).
The parish of Gornja Bukovica includes the villages: Gornja Bukovica , Vrhpolje, Caparić , Leović and part of Drlače . The priest of the church is Anđelko Kovačević.

The single - nave cross-domed church of St. Jeremias was built in the Serbian-Byzantine style . With an altar - apse in the east, a large round dome in the middle of the nave and a small church tower in the west. It has an iconostasis with icons, which is typical for Orthodox churches .
