The . Church of St. Simon venerable monk ( Serbian : Црква Светог преподобног Симона Монаха, Crkva Svetog prepodobnog Simona Monaha), in the village Darosava is a Serbian Orthodox Church in the Opština Aranđelovac in central Serbia .

The church stands in the eastern center of the village of Darosava, which has around 1,800 inhabitants. Not far from the church in the churchyard is the village parsonage, which was built between 2005 and 2008. The rectory was inaugurated in 2008 by Bishop Jovan (Mladenović) .

The Serbian Orthodox village cemetery of Darosava is also located near the church. In addition to the church of St. Venerable Simon the Monk, there is also the wooden church of St. Apostles Peter and Paul , built in 1832 , dedicated to St. Apostles Peter and Paul .

history

In 1990 the construction of the church started according to a project by the architect Radoslav Prokić . And in 1991 the foundations of the church were consecrated by the then bishop of the eparchy Šumadija Sava (Vuković) . The church was finished by 1996, when construction paused until 2000. In 2000 the church got its church crosses and church bells. From 2000 the construction work paused again until 2004 due to lack of money. In 2004 and 2005, the carpentry and painting work was completed. And the church got a granite floor with underfloor heating.

With the blessing of Bishop Jovan (Mladenović) , the Holy Liturgy (services) and church rites could be held in the church from 2004. The construction work was completely finished in 2009 and on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 on the feast of the Holy Martyrs Tarah, Prov and Andronik, the Church of St. Venerable Simon the Monk was opened with the presence of many believers and clergy from Darosava, Aranđelovac and the The surrounding villages were inaugurated by Bishop Jovan (Mladenović) .

During the solemn inauguration of the church, a small part of the relics of the Holy Grandmary Tsar Lazar was placed in the church altar .

The first parish priest of the church was Branimir Tovilović . The current parish priest is Radivoje Marić.

architecture

The church was built in the traditional Serbian-Byzantine style . The cross-domed church has a semicircular altar - apse on the east side, a central round dome in the middle of the nave over the intersection of the side arms of the church and a high church tower with a large entrance portal on the west side. The church has three silver crosses .

In the interior of the church there is a wooden iconostasis with icons painted in the traditional Byzantine manner . Currently, the church is painted with Byzantine frescoes in the interior.
