The ecclesiastical province of Eritrea is the only ecclesiastical province of the Eritrean Catholic Church which, as the Metropolitan Church sui iuris, forms a rite church of the Roman Catholic Church .
The ecclesiastical province of Eritrea was established on January 19, 2015 through the division of the ecclesiastical province of Addis Ababa by Pope Francis as part of the establishment of the Eritrean Catholic Church . It covers the entire territory of Eritrea . It has four eparchies:
The previous eparch of Asmara, Menghisteab Tesfamariam MCCJ , was named the first metropolitan of Eritrea .
