The Eparchy Barentu ( Latin Eparchia Barentuanus ) located in Eritrea is a diocese ( eparchy ) of the Eritrean Catholic Church , which is united with the Roman Catholic Church . On December 21, 1995 it was removed from the territory of the Asmara Eparchy . The eparchy belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Addis Ababa of the Ethiopian Catholic Church until 2015 .
With the establishment of the Eritrean Catholic Church on January 19, 2015, the eparchy was subordinate to the Archeparch Asmara as a suffragan.
