The Kirmesmusikanten (Dutch: De Kermisklanten ) were a Dutch musician duo consisting of Henny van Voskuylen and Coby van Voskuylen-Mol. In the field of folk music , they have become known as accordion players.

Career

Hendrik Frederik Evert (Henny) van Voskuylen (born May 23, 1941 in Bunnik near Utrecht ; † January 12, 2010 in Soestdijk ) and Coby van Voskuylen-Mol (born July 22, 1944 in Amersfoort ) were very musical even in their childhood. After school, Henny worked as a musical accompanist for a cabaret group and Coby was already active as an accordion soloist. The two met at a performance by Coby. After that they started working together with their accordion as the duo "Las Estrellas". They both trundled through the country until a record company noticed them and produced the first record with them. The duo changed its name to "Die Kirmesmusikanten"; the Dutch name of the duo " De Kermisklanten " means "the fair visitors". They also got married.

The duo produced numerous hits. Their characteristic accordion sound soon made them known beyond the borders of the Netherlands. They were often guests at various television events in the Netherlands, Germany , Belgium and France and won a gold record in Germany and other prizes with their instruments .

The repertoire included folk songs, folk music, evergreens and operettas melodies, but also newer compositions. Over the course of their careers they recorded over 1000 titles. Until 2000, the duo could occasionally be heard and seen in folk music programs, after which Henny van Voskuylen , who had suffered from progressive muscular atrophy since 1998, could no longer take part, so that a joint appearance was no longer possible.
