Kirjat Jam ( Hebrew קריית ים, Arabic كريات يام) is a city in Israel founded in 1945 . It is located about 10 km north of Haifa and had about 38,000 inhabitants in 2003, including about 20,000 who came with a large wave of immigration ( Aliyah ) after the collapse of the Soviet Union since 1990 . In 2008 the population was around 40,000. The place had 39,909 inhabitants in 2018.

Together with several other small towns, Kirjat Jam forms a metropolitan area with the unofficial name HaKrajot .
