The Kiskatinaw River is a right tributary of the Peace River in the Peace River Regional District in the northeast of the Canadian province of British Columbia .

River course

The Kiskatinaw River has its origin in Bearhole Lake in Bearhole Lake Provincial Park and Protected Area . It flows in a predominantly northward direction through the Pouce Coupe Prairie . It takes up the West Kiskatinaw River on the left. In Kiskatinaw crosses British Columbia Highway 97 the river. The Kiskatinaw River passes Kiskatinaw Provincial Park and turns northeast in the lower reaches. The Kiskatinaw River Protected Area lies a bit above the mouth . The river finally flows into the Peace River about 10 km west of the provincial border with Alberta . The Kiskatinaw River has a length of approximately 220 km. The catchment area of ​​the Kiskatinaw River borders on that of the Pouce Coupé River to the east and that of the Pine River to the west .

Hydrology

The Kiskatinaw River drains an area of ​​about 4000 km². The mean discharge near Farmington, 50 km above the estuary, is 10.5 m³ / s. In May, the Kiskatinaw River carries the largest amounts of water.

Fish fauna

Pike and rainbow trout can be fished in the lower reaches of the Kiskatinaw River .
