The steam locomotive series kkStB 163 were tank locomotives of the kk state railways (kkStB), which originally came from the kk priv. Österreichische Nordwestbahn (ÖNWB).

history

The locomotives in this series were designed by Anton Elbel for shunting as well as for connecting and branch lines based on the model of kkStB 97 . They were machines of the type Ct with a deep boiler . The coal supply was housed on the stoker's side in front of the shelter.

The seven pieces delivered by Schwartzkopff in 1882 were given the numbers 501–507 and the series designation  Xa at the ÖNWB . The Floridsdorf locomotive factory supplied four pieces in 1881 , which were given the numbers 508-511 and the series designation  Xb . In 1884 there was a subsequent delivery of ten pieces by the StEG locomotive factory , which was classified as series  Xc with the numbers 512-521 . In 1890, the Floridsdorfer Lokomotivfabrik delivered four pieces to the kk priv. South-North German connection line (SNDVB), which were assigned the numbers 551-554 and the Xd series  at the ÖNWB . Ultimately, the Floridsdorfer Lokomotivfabrik built twelve in 1891/1892, four in 1896 and another four in 1901, which were supplemented by four in 1896 from the StEG's locomotive factory and two more from Floridsdorf in 1898. These got the numbers 522-541 and 561-566 and the series designation Xe . The differences in the dimensions of the individual delivery series can be seen in the tables.

After the nationalization in 1909, the kkStB classified the machines in series Xa, b, c, d, e as series  163 .

After the First World War , the series came closed to the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD), which it designated as 314.2 and was in use until 1964.
