Klaus Fleischmann

Klaus Fleischmann (born September 5, 1951 in Münchberg ) is a German lawyer and former judge. Fleischmann was temporarily chief public prosecutor in Chemnitz , from 2005 to 2007 the state police president of Saxony and from 2007 to February 2017 general public prosecutor of the Free State of Saxony .

Life

Fleischmann grew up in Upper Franconia and studied law after graduating from high school. After the second state examination, he began working as an assessor in the division of the Bamberg Higher Regional Court with effect from October 10, 1980 . He was initially employed by the public prosecutor at the Hof district court . Exactly two years later, on October 10, 1982, Fleischmann was appointed public prosecutor . In 1984 he moved to the Hof Regional Court as a judge. In the course of the rebuilding of the Saxon judiciary after the political change in the GDR, for which the judicial authorities from Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg had taken on a "sponsorship" , Fleischmann switched to the Saxon judiciary at the beginning of 1993, where he became effective from 1 January 1993 took over the office of Vice-President of the Chemnitz Regional Court . On June 5, 2001, Fleischmann returned to the investigative authorities, succeeding Henning Drecoll as the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Chemnitz Public Prosecutor's Office. With effect from March 1, 2005 he moved to the Saxon Ministry of the Interior , where he was appointed State Police President by the then Saxon Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière .

When the State Secretary in the Saxon Ministry of the Interior, Jürgen Staupe , moved to the Saxon State Ministry for Environment and Agriculture on July 1, 2007 , Fleischmann was State Secretary in the Saxon Ministry of the Interior for three months. When Andrea Fischer was appointed as the new State Secretary with effect from October 1, 2007, Minister of Justice Geert Mackenroth appointed Fleischmann, who had now returned to the responsibility of the Saxon Ministry of Justice, on October 11, 2007 with effect from October 15, succeeding Jörg Schwalm as Attorney General of the Free State of Saxony. On February 28, 2017, Fleischmann retired.
