Klaus Gereon Beuckers

Klaus Gereon Beuckers (born August 26, 1966 in Cologne ) is a German art historian .

Klaus Gereon Beuckers finished high school in Königswinter- Oberpleis in 1982 after the tenth grade and completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Neuwied from 1982 to 1985 , which he completed as a journeyman in 1985. From 1985 to 1988 he attended the Ketteler College of the Diocese of Mainz, in 1988 he passed the Abitur and from 1988 to 1994 studied art history, Middle and New History, comparative religious studies and Catholic theology at the Universities of Bonn , Mainz and Cologne . In July 1993 he worked with the art historian and medieval archaeologist Hugo Borger in Bonn with a thesis on the subject of The Ezzonen and their foundations. A study on foundation activities in the 11th century is doing his doctorate. From 1994 to 1995 Beuckers was a research assistant at the Cologne Cathedral Administration for the archaeological excavation under the Cologne Cathedral . In 1995 he went to the Institute for Art History at the University of Karlsruhe as a research assistant . On May 19, 1999 he received the venia legendi there , the title of his habilitation thesis was Cologne: The Churches in Gothic Times. On late medieval sacred building work on the monastery, collegiate and parish churches in Cologne . From April 2000 Beuckers taught at the University of Stuttgart , the appointment as extraordinary professor took place on March 27, 2006. On April 24, 2008 Beuckers became head of the LWL State Museum for Monastery Culture in Dalheim Monastery (Lichtenau) , but after a few months in the winter semester 2008/09 appointed professor for art history at the University of Kiel .

Beucker's research focus is the art of the Middle Ages and art after 1945.
