Klaus Harste

Klaus Harste (born October 28, 1955 in Osnabrück ) is a German metallurgist .

Life

After graduating from high school, Harste studied metallurgy at the Clausthal University of Technology . After the diploma Accounts 1982 he worked as a research associate in the Department of General Metallurgy and completed his PhD studies on the shrinkage and the formation of mechanical stresses during solidification and subsequent cooling of cylindrical blocks of Fe-C alloys on with which he 1989 from TU Clausthal to Dr.-Ing. received his doctorate .

Harste began his professional activity in 1989 in the AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke in the research and development / rolling mill technology and production development department . In 1992 he became head of the central continuous casting organizational unit with responsibility for the Dillingen and Völklingen plants . In 1995 he took over the management of the research and development / steelworks metallurgy and continuous casting technology department at Dillinger Hütte, and in 1998 he became head of the pig iron , steelmaking , rolling mill, product development and scientific data center development departments.

In 2001 Harste moved to Saarstahl AG in Völklingen as Head of Production and Quality Assurance and Member of the Board of Management for the Technology Division . In 2009 he became CEO of Saarstahl AG while retaining responsibility for the technology area . When SHS - Stahl-Holding-Saar had been established as the parent company for Dillinger Hütte, Saarstahl AG and Saarschmiede , Harste left Saarstahl AG before the end of his contract as CEO.

Harste was managing director of Max Aicher GmbH & Co KG in Freilassing from 2012 to 2016 .

Harste continuously participated in the technical committee work of the Association of German Ironworkers (VDEh) , of which he became a member in 1991, and since 2001 he has been a member of the board of the steel institute VDEh. He is also a member of the board of the steel trade association. From 2005 to 2015 he was chairman of the VDEh committee for metallurgical principles.

In 2011 Harste became deputy chairman of the CDU Economic Council in Saarland.
