Klaus Roessler

Klaus Rößler (born January 7, 1939 in Dresden ; † 2018 ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

He completed his artistic training from 1959 to 1962 at the Technical School for Applied Arts in Leipzig and from 1962 to 1967 at the University of Fine Arts in his hometown. He then lived from 1968 in Wolgast and the neighboring town of Freest before settling in Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom . His work mainly included still lifes , landscapes and figurative compositions, as well as some works on the wall design of buildings, especially in the 1970s and 1980s.

His works, which are accessible in public space , include a wall mosaic in the Karlshagen memorial , a mosaic stele titled "Sonnenfrau" on the former site of a dismantled farm north of Wolgast, and a mural titled "Wehrmacht der Jugend" at a former school in Prora on the island of Rügen . On the occasion of his 75th birthday in 2014, the Wolgast City History Museum organized a personal exhibition with works by Klaus Rößler.
