Klaus Salmutter (born January 3, 1984 in Graz ) is an Austrian football player in the position of striker and midfielder .
Career
Salmut started his career in the offspring of Sturm Graz and switched to the youth team of FC Schalke 04 at short notice . After he had developed well in Germany , he was brought back to Sturm on the advice of the amateur trainer at the time, Franco Foda . On April 22, 2003 he made his debut in the Austrian Bundesliga under his sponsor Foda , who had been promoted to coach of the fighting team . In the same year he celebrated winning the bronze medal at the U-19 European Championship with the Austrian selection. During this tournament, the young talent convinced with good performances and was voted "Player of the Tournament" and was the top scorer.
After his rapid ascent, Salmutter's further development stagnated due to injuries but also due to his unprofessional lifestyle. In winter 2004 he was sentenced to pay € 7,000 for property damage after he had demolished two cars in the Styrian capital while drunk.
In the 2005/06 season the man from Graz gradually developed into a regular player in his team and convinced with very good performances - e.g. B. with three goals in the 4-0 win over the title contender Red Bull Salzburg on March 4, 2006 - the Austrian team boss Josef Hickersberger . This appointed the previous U-21 team player for the friendly international match against Croatia on May 23, 2006 for the first time in the squad of the Austrian national team . Sal Mutter celebrated his first team appearance on November 15, 2006, in the last game of the ÖFB team in 2006, in a 4-1 win over Trinidad-Tobago .
After the 2007/08 season, Salmut moved to LASK in the Upper Austrian capital Linz after six years with SK Sturm . The reason for moving to Linz was that he wanted a new environment around him. In February 2010, due to lack of sporting prospects in Linz, he returned to his home club Sturm Graz. His contract, which initially ran until May 2010, was extended on April 27, 2010 by two years until the end of the 2012 season. On June 10, 2011, however, it became known that Sal Mutter is withdrawing from professional football for personal reasons. His contract was then terminated. However, there is the option of returning to the club by May 31, 2012. In June 2012, when SK Sturm Graz announced the squad for the training camp in Illmitz, it was also announced that the contract with Salmut was amicably terminated.
On June 13, 2015 it was announced that Sal Mutter had signed a contract with FC Gleisdorf 09 and was continuing his career as a player in the Landesliga Steiermark (the 4th division in Austria).
