Klaus Schmalz
Klaus Schmalz (born April 14, 1928 in Kronberg im Taunus ; † August 6, 2012 ) was a German lawyer.
Schmalz was Vice President from 1975 to 1983 and then President of the Federal Bar Association until 1991 . He later became its honorary president. After the Bastille rulings of the Federal Constitutional Court of 1987, which declared the previous professional standards of the legal profession to be unconstitutional, he promoted the specialization of the legal profession. He also advocated international contacts for the Federal Bar Association, u. a. to the Israeli Bar Association and by entering into a friendship agreement with the French Bar Association.
