Klaus Wiegandt
Klaus Wiegandt (* 1939 in Stettin ) is a former German manager . He was CEO of Metro AG until 1998 and founded the Forum for Responsibility Foundation in 2000.
biography
Wiegandt grew up in Hameln . After studying at the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics , he worked in various companies. In 1976 he became general representative of the Rewe Leibbrand Group . From 1991 to 1995 he was chairman of the board of Asko AG. After the merger of Asko with Metro / Kaufhof, he became spokesman for the board of the new major Metro AG .
At the age of 60, Wiegandt resigned as chairman of the board, founded the Forum for Responsibility Foundation in 2000 and is involved in the sustainability debate . Every year from 2002 to 2012 and in 2014, the foundation organized a scientific colloquium, the contributions of which were published in a book series Courage for Sustainability by S. Fischer Verlag , which was edited by Wiegandt . The foundation has been holding a colloquium for young scientists since 2012. To this end, the foundation supports projects in the areas of forest protection , renaturation and reforestation . Since 2013, the foundation has been awarding the “Courage for Sustainability” prize together with Zeit Wissen .
Wiegandt is closely associated with the Asko Europa Foundation and the European Academy Otzenhausen .
