history

Kleemann's United Factories at the beginning of the 19th century

The company goes back to a small file carving company from 1857, founded by Ferdinand Kleemann . Kleemann's file-cutting was the first industrial operation in the town. He soon added forage cutting machines and other agricultural equipment to his company's range. Later, circular saws , eccentric and screw presses added. Finally, they specialized in stone processing . Initially, in the 1920s, mainly mobile crushing and screening plants were developed; in the 1960s, stationary and, from the 1980s, crawler-type systems of this type were in the foreground. After the Second World War , stone processing became the mainstay of the company.

In 2005 the company was converted into Kleemann GmbH and in 2006 a majority stake of 80 percent became the property of the Wirtgen Group .

In 2008, the construction of a new main plant of Kleemann GmbH began in the Stauferpark in the east of Göppingen. After a year of construction, the new plant was put into operation on an area of 12.5 hectares. The company invested around 60 million euros in the new location. In 2016 the company expanded its plant to a total of 150,000 m³.

In 2017, the entire Wirtgen Group was sold to the US company John Deere .
