Location and mountain height
The Kleine Ahlertsberg rises in the southeast of the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park about 700 m south-southeast of the Großer Ahlertsberg . It is located between Bad Laasphe (northeast) and between the districts of Hesselbach (south-south-west), Banfe (north-west), Herbertshausen (north-north-west) and Laaspherhütte (north). The Lahn tributary Wahbach (Wabach) rises almost 600 m southeast of the summit .
The Kleine Ahlertsberg is 597.8 m high. Near its summit, an altitude of 595.4 m is recorded on topographic maps .
Natural allocation
The Kleine Ahlertsberg belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Süderbergland (No. 33) and in the main unit Rothaargebirge (with Hochsauerland ) (333) to the subunit Südwittgensteiner Bergland ( Wittgensteiner Lahnbergland ; 333.2).
Protected areas
Parts of the Wahbachtal nature reserve extend to the south flank and along the southeastern foot of the Kleiner Ahlertsberg ( CDDA no. 166128; designated in 1987; 29.03 hectares in size). Parts of the Bad Laasphe landscape protection area are located on the mountain (CDDA no. 555558490; 1987; 122.9381 km² ).
Wind farm
Parts of the Hesselbach wind farm are located near the summit of the Kleiner Ahlertsberg .
