The Kleperberg is a 332 m high mountain in the west of the Göttingen Forest in the district of Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ). It was one of the first measurement points for the Gaussian survey and formed a triangle with the Hohen Hagen and the Göttingen observatory. The Gauss stone on which the theodolite was built for the measurement is still preserved.

The heavily forested Kleperberg rises on the western roof of the Göttingen Forest, a southern part of the Leinebergland , directly to the east or above the city of Göttingen . It can only be reached on hiking trails .
Buildings
On the Kleperberg stands the 31.5 m high Bismarck Tower of Göttingen , inaugurated in 1896 , from which you can see, for example, over Göttingen, the Kaufunger Wald , Dransfelder Stadtwald and Solling .
Around 500 m south-east of the Kleperberg hilltop, one of Göttingen's two observatories stands on a ridge connected to the Hainberg around 1.5 km further north or the south-eastern foothills of the Kleperberg at around 330 m above sea level .
1 km northwest of the peak of the mountain Kleperbergs is about 250 m in height of the Eulenturm .
