The Klinggraben is a two-kilometer long stream on the districts of Marienbrunn (Marktheidenfeld) and Hafenlohr (Hafenlohr) in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart in Bavaria , which flows into the Main from the right opposite the town of Marktheidenfeld when coming from the north-west .

geography

course

The Klinggraben rises in the sandstone Spessart in the natural area 141.3 Southeastern Sandstone Spessart at an altitude of about 245  m above sea level. NN on the southern edge of the Marktheidenfeld district of Marienbrunn to the Flur Obere Seewiesen an only intermittently water-bearing spring southeast at the intersection of Neuwiesenstrasse and the residential road An den Eichen .

The heavily straightened stream initially flows parallel to the dirt road continuation of the residential road An den Eichen almost a hundred meters south through grassland, then bends to the east-southeast and then runs a good two hundred meters through the Obere Seewiesen corridor . It now crosses under the MSP 27 district road leading to Hafenlohr (here called Im Wiesengrund ), then makes a small arch to the left south of the height ( 252  m above sea level ) through the fields and meadows of the Am Eichholz corridor , which runs past a small sewage treatment plant and then passes the municipal boundary to Hafenlohr. Its previously wide valley is now noticeably narrowing. The stream now runs in a south-southeast direction through its small notch valley wooded on the left slope, which will soon be crossed by the state road St 2315 , and then squeezes east-south for less than 300 meters through its narrow, steep and wooded section of the gorge.

Arrived at the bottom of the right main valley slope, it now runs in a straight line over the floodplain and finally flows into the lower main valley in the natural area 141.02 Marktheidenfeld-Wertheimer main valley at an altitude of 142  m above sea level. NN south of the market village and on the district of Hafenlohr and opposite the town of Marktheidenfeld on the east bank of the river at Main kilometer 180.6 from the right into the Main flowing from the north-northeast .

Catchment area

The Klinggraben drains 1.9 km² east to southeast to the Main. Its catchment area extends from the most north-westerly point on a wooded ridge in front of the valley of the Wachenbach in the west about 3.3 km to the mouth at 142  m above sea level. NN , across it it is at most 1.0 km wide. Here at the bend of the short western watershed to the north-western one is also one of the two at about 323  m above sea level. NN highest points, on the subsequent longer northwest to the forest crest Russenlücke ( 305  m above sea level ), the height falls only once 300  m above sea level. NN , here, too, the terrain falls on the other side of the Hafenlohr tributary Wachenbach. There the scabbard bends to the southeast and then falls monotonously - a little faster on the main valley slope, then hardly more in the floodplain - up to 142  m above sea level. NN of the mouth; on the opposite side, the stream flowing into the slope at the southern edge of Hafenlohr drains through the Leitersgraben . The catchment area border from the estuary to the west-north-west up to the forest ridge in front of the Wachenbachtal rises with an intermediate high at the height ( 252  m above sea level ) again to 323  m above sea level. NN . Another competitor on this side, again to the Main, is the closer right-hand neighboring stream Glasbach , which reaches the Main less than 200 meters below the Klinggraben itself.

About a third of the catchment area is forested. Except for a much smaller part in the talk Linge, on Maintal grove and a small hill forest on the amount he stands on the ridge on the western edge. The only settlement areas are the Marktheidenfeld church village Marienbrunn and a single house in Hafenlohr on the left foot of the main valley. Marktheidenfeld and Hafenlohr have a share in the catchment area.
