In the Klinikverbund Hessen eV, Hessian hospitals under public law and the Hessian umbrella organizations of the sponsoring organizations (the Hessian District Association , the Hessian City Association and the Hessian City and Municipal Association ) have come together to form an alliance. As a representative of the interests of public hospitals, the clinic association advocates fair and future-proof financing of health care, transparent evidence and continuous improvement of patient safety , quality and profitability, and the maintenance and expansion of health facilities under public law.

As an association, it bundles the needs of its member houses in a joint commitment. In this way, the concerns and positions of the association should be better focused, concerted and communicated. The clinic association is committed to effective awareness of public hospitals in politics and the public. In addition to this activity, high-quality educational offers and exchanges in specialist groups and working groups are offered within the association through its office in order to provide the individual member houses with knowledge transfer and the exchange of expertise.

background

Around 150 hospitals in Hessen share the task of inpatient health care. With over 50 locations, the hospitals under public law make a significant contribution. They treat around 700,000 patients per year and thus around 50% of all inpatient cases in Hesse. Both in rural regions and in the Hessian metropolises, the public hospitals provide acute hospitals with 24-hour emergency care and specialist clinics for special medical care. Many of these hospitals offer comprehensive health and patient care with additional services such as medical care centers, outpatient care services, physiotherapy practices, senior emergency services, meals on wheels, senior housing and care facilities.

Public services of general interest

Hospital care is part of public services of general interest . In Germany , the responsibility for a citizen-wide, nationwide inpatient care lies with the federal states and municipalities . The independent cities and districts are obliged to provide the necessary supply of hospital services. Hospitals under public law are particularly distinguished as service providers.
