history

founding

On January 1st, 2008 the LWV Hessen founded the LWV-Gesundheitsmanagement GmbH as a holding company. In the same year, the group realigned itself and has been operating under Vitos GmbH since March 2009 . Since then, the subsidiaries and their facilities have also borne the common name Vitos as part of their name.

"Vitos" is a made-up word that was made up of "vita" (Latin) and "bios" (Greek). Both mean "life". The common name precedes all facility names.

Vitos Weil-Lahn

Vitos Weilmünster and Vitos Hadamar merged into one company on September 1, 2016. Until then, Vitos Weilmünster and Vitos Hadamar were independent, even if they (together with Vitos Herborn ) had been under central management for a long time and had a combined administration. The merger was also associated with a renaming, which underlines the togetherness with a new and common name. The merged company operates under Vitos Weil-Lahn non-profit GmbH .

In contrast to the superordinate company, the clinics and facilities represented at the location keep their established names. The location structure of both companies will also remain unchanged after the merger under company law.

Against the background of restructuring in the Vitos Group, the merger was a step towards ensuring stable hospital care in the Limburg-Weilburg district. In addition, the merger simplifies administration, management and communication structures.

Vito's participation

Vitos Kalmenhof forms a regional association with joint management with Vitos Hochtaunus non-profit GmbH and Vitos Rheingau non-profit GmbH. Approx. 1300 employees work in this network.

The curative education facilities previously run by Vitos Haina, Herborn, Kurhessen, Riedstadt and Weilmünster were bundled into Vitos Kalmenhof gGmbH on January 1, 2016. Under the new name Vitos Teilhabe , more than 600 people with mental and multiple disabilities will be cared for in inpatient, semi-inpatient and outpatient services across Hesse.

Treatment spectrum

The treatment of adults, children and adolescents in psychiatric clinics and clinics for forensic psychiatry is the Group's core task. With 3357 inpatient and semi-inpatient beds or places, it is Hesse's largest provider of outpatient, semi-inpatient and fully inpatient treatment of mentally ill people.

Physically ill people are treated in specialist somatic clinics with a total of 325 beds.

2044 additional places are distributed among the accompanying psychiatric services for people with a mental disability (768 places), the curative educational facilities for people with intellectual disabilities (497 places) and the socio-educational offers for young people (779 places).
