history

The place was first mentioned in 1352 as Clissow . The possessive name is derived from the personal name Klisz .

During the first partition of Poland , the chamber estates of the city of Sandomierz became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1784, in the course of the Josephine colonization , some German Catholic colonists were settled there, but with only 6 hectares it was the smallest colony in the Sandomir Basin.

In 1900 the municipality of Kliszów in the Mielec district had 142 houses with 819 inhabitants, all of whom were Polish- speaking , apart from 799 Roman Catholics, there were 20 Jews.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Kliszów became part of Poland. This was interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II , during which it belonged to the Generalgouvernement .

From 1975 to 1998 Kliszów was part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship .
