Knapovec (German: Knappendorf , also Knoppndoff and 1292 Chappendorf ) is a municipality part of the city of Ústí nad Orlicí in the district of Ústí nad Orlicí in the East Bohemian region of Pardubický kraj in the Czech Republic .
location
The district is 444 m above sea level. M. (after Gauglitz 422 m above sea level) between the towns of Dlouhá Třebová and Ústí nad Orlicí and its districts Horní Houžovec and Dolní Houžovec . The village basically consists of three parts: an upper part runs along road 315, Ústí nad Orlicí - Lanškroun; the second part is located in a deep valley along the Knapovecký brook, which flows into the Třebovka ; the third consists of houses that extend on both sides of the slopes of the local stream up to the plateau. Originally the cottagers and craftsmen settled in the valley floor, while the farmhouses and the church stood on the plateau.
history
Knapovec was first mentioned in 1292. The current district is one of the oldest church villages in the region (a rectory was mentioned in a document as early as 1349; the old church stood in the middle of today's cemetery and was destroyed in 1623). In 1366, the inheritance court letter was renewed to the testator Hanus von Knappendorf by the Litomist Bishop Albrecht von Sternberg . Accordingly, in 1366 the place consisted of 26 peasant communities and three mills. After the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) and the plague epidemics in Bohemia, Knapovec is said to have only 80 inhabitants at times.
Population development
A predominantly German-speaking population lived in Knapovec until the Second World War . According to a census from 1930, the place had 150 (after another 144) houses with 698 (after another 620) inhabitants (683 of them German-speaking, 15 Czech-speaking). After 1945/46 or after the Second World War, the German-speaking population was expelled and the number of houses was reduced to 98 according to a count from 1950.
