Knasterbart is a German folk band that consists of seven members. The band sees itself as a "Gossen band", describes their music as "Gossen Folklore" and mainly plays at medieval festivals and music festivals.

history

The project was originally founded by Malte Hoyer, the singer of the band Versengold , who embodies the character Hotze Knasterbart in a live role-play . On May 28, 2012 he brought out the album Sauf mich schön under this name , on which other musicians have also participated.

In the period that followed, Hoyer and Fummelfips , played by Simon Erichsen - known by Mr. Hurley & the powder monkeys as Mr. Hurley - began to perform as a duo. In 2013 it became a band with a permanent cast. The trigger for this was an invitation to play as the opening act for Torfrock . Five other musicians - including two members of Versengold and two members of the band Afterburner , in which Hoyer's brother Tjalf sings - complete the line-up.

The band made their first appearance in 2013 at the Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spectaculum in Rastede . To this day, a large part of the Knasterbart concerts take place at the Medieval Fantasy Spectaculum, where Versengold and Mr. Hurley & the powder monkeys perform regularly. In 2015 there were also performances at the Feuertanz Festival and the Wacken Open Air .

The album Branntwein für alle was released on June 6, 2014 . On January 9th, 2015 the album Sauf mich schön was re-released as a revised version with two additional tracks. On July 15, 2016, the band released the album Superknasterbart .

The free Jump 'n' Run - Smartphone Game Superknasterbart: Chaos on the MPS was created in cooperation of the development team Nightshift Games with Malte Hoyer and was published on May 18, 2018th Due to the depiction of alcohol consumption , the game did not receive a USK youth rating.
