Knut Hjeltnes (born December 8, 1951 in Ulvik ) is a former Norwegian discus thrower and shot putter .

In the discus he was seventh at the 1976 Olympic Games , fifth at the 1978 European Athletics Championships in Prague and fourth at the 1979 World Cup . Twelfth place at the 1982 European Championship in Atghen was followed by a ninth place at the 1983 World Athletics Championships in Helsinki and fourth at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1985 in Piraeus, he was sixth in the shot put. In the discus throw he was fourth at the EM 1986 in Stuttgart. In 1987 he was eliminated from qualifying at the World Cup in Rome , and in 1988 he was seventh at the Olympic Games in Seoul .

He was eleven times Norwegian champion in discus throwing (1975, 1976, 1979-1984, 1986, 1988, 1989) and nine times in the shot put (1975, 1976, 1978-1984).

In 1977 he was positive for anabolic steroids tested and because of this violation of the doping regulations suspended for one year.
