The Kochsa is a stream in Spremberg in the south of Brandenburg .

course

The stream originally originated in Roitz , a village west of Spremberg , which was completely relocated in 1977/1978 and later dredged by the Welzow-Süd open-cast lignite mine . With the village, the spring and large parts of the Kochsa also disappeared. The new source cannot be precisely located, but it is located in the area of today's Spremberg residential areas, Pulsberg and Kochsdorf .

In the upper reaches of the stream the stream carries only a little water, the operator of the open pit also feeds in pit water. In the further course the brook crosses Kochsdorf and the Kochsagrund near the Spremberger outdoor pool. Along the edge of the Spremberg outskirts settlement, the Kochsa then flows through several small ponds to Unterteschnitz and the Cantdorfer Mühle. The mill is no longer in operation and now houses a grocery store and snack bar. From there, the stream runs under Berliner Strasse through Cantdorf towards the Spree. Shortly before the estuary, the Kochsa passes under the embankment of the former Proschim-Haidemühl-Spremberg railway .

The water is clear and, unlike that of the Spree, is not affected by ocher formation .
