Kohltobel
The Kohltobel area is a protected forest in the south of the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, which was designated by the Tübingen Forest Directorate by ordinance of 23 September 2004 .

In Baden-Württemberg, forest reserves are total reserves in which any use is prohibited by ordinance. In other countries in Germany, the total reserves are known as natural forest reserve , natural forest parcel , natural forest cell or natural forest . Forests are used for scientific research into natural processes in forests. Due to their wealth of structure and dead wood, ban forests are retreats for many endangered animal, plant and fungus species.

The 35.5 hectares large carbon Tobel is located in the " forest district Ueberlingen" the municipality Deggenhausertal , district "Homberg" in Bodenseekreis . It is located about one kilometer east of the Limpach district at an altitude of around 570 to 619 m above sea level. NN and is traversed by the Elsenbach , a tributary of the Rotach .
The ban forest Kohltobel with the habitat type "Woodruff-beech forest" (9130) lies within the FFH area Deggenhauser Tal .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the development of the near-natural ravine forest, rich in tree species, on molasse slopes of a closed valley, unaffected by human impact . This includes the protection of the habitats and communities that are located in the areas, that change in the course of their own dynamic development within the protected areas or that arise through their own dynamic development.
Another protection purpose is the contribution to the conservation of biological diversity in Europe. The protected forests are located in areas that have been included in the national list of proposals for notification to the Commission for the establishment and protection of a European ecological network Natura 2000 .
