Kolbung ( Nepali कोल्बुङ ) is a village and a Village Development Committee (VDC) in the Ilam district of the Mechi administrative zone in eastern Nepal .
Kolbung is located in the southern foothills of the Himalayas in the southeast of the Ilam district. The upper reaches of the Biring Khola runs along the western border of the area . The Mechi Rajmarg trunk road runs north-south through the VDC.

At the 2011 census, VDC Kolbung had 4,925 inhabitants (2,423 male) in 1,134 households.
