Suryodaya ( Nepali सूर्योदय Suryodaya ) is a city ( municipality ) in eastern Nepal in the Ilam district .

The city was created in 2014 by merging the Village Development Committees Kanyam , Panchakanya and Phikal Bazar . The city administration is located in Phikal Bazar. Suryodaya is located on the Mechi Rajmarg highway , which connects the western district capital of Ilam with the southern district of Jhapa . The urban area covers 85.8 km².

Residents

In the 2011 census, the VDCs, from which the city of Suryodaya emerged, had 27,040 inhabitants (13,291 of them male) in 6317 households.
