The Kommende Malenburg was a branch of the Teutonic Order that belonged to the Ballei Westfalen .

history

The Kommende was a successor to the Kommende Waldenburg near Attendorn . In 1692 the Ballei bought the free aristocratic estate Malenburg in Vest Recklinghausen in the Electorate of Cologne for 20,000 Reichsthalers , located in the Bockum peasantry and the parish of Datteln . The wooden buildings, which were already over 100 years old and in poor condition, were only restored and renovated under the 5th Commander- in-Law, even if the commander had a small chapel as early as 1700 .

The income of the coming, which was between 800 and 1,000 Reichsthalers, came from home-grown farms, leases and interest . Since the expenditures were considerably lower, the coming was able to generate good annual surpluses.

In the course of secularization , the commander was drafted on August 9, 1806 by the domain administration of the Duchy of Aremberg . Protests by the order could, however, delay the final takeover until 1809.
