Konfederacja Wolność i Niepodległość ( German : Confederation of freedom and independence, in short Konfederacja ) is a heterogeneous political party in Poland , the monarchists , libertarians , economic liberals , Euro critics , nationalists , conservatives and populists united. It was initially created at the turn of the year 2018/19 as an alliance of the palaeolibertarian party KORWiN , the Catholic-nationalist party RN , and the monarchist- traditionalist milieu of the director Grzegorz Braun .

After missed entry in the 2019 elections to the European Parliament , the alliance, which had now been transformed into a party, managed to move into the Sejm in autumn 2019 .

history

On December 6, 2018, the parties KORWiN and RN decided to jointly participate in the 2019 European elections, which the monarchist Grzegorz Braun joined in January 2019 . Several members of the Sejm (Piotr Liroy-Marzec, Marek Jakubiak, Pawel Skutecki), activists (opponents of abortion around Kaja Godek) and the party of drivers joined the Konfederacja.

On March 22, the group of MPs Wolność i Skuteczni (consisting of the two MPs from the KORWiN party and Liroy-Marzec) was renamed Konfederacja after Robert Winnicki and Jakubiak had joined him. All members of this circle were previously elected to the list of the Kukiz movement . On May 15, MP Robert Majka also joined.

On May 1, 2019, the 15th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union, Konfederacja helped to organize an anti -EU manifestation under the name Marsz Suwerenności (German: Sovereignty March ) in Warsaw. On May 11, 2019, their representatives took part in a demonstration against Just Act 447 in front of the Prime Minister's Office and the US Embassy . This “obliges the State Department of the United States to prepare reports on the status of the return of Jewish property without heirs in those countries that have signed the so-called Theresienstadt Declaration .”

In the European elections, the confederation missed the five percent hurdle with a 4.55% share of the vote, and in the course of internal disputes, Godek, Jakubiak and Liroy-Marzec soon left the alliance.

On July 25, 2019, the party was judicially registered under the name Konfederacja Wolność i Niepodległość , before that the party appeared as Konfederacja KORWiN Braun Liroy Narodowcy (German: Confederation KORWiN Braun Liroy Nationalists).

For the general election in 2019 Konfederacja was a nationwide antretendes Election Committee admitted. Representatives of the STOP NOP initiative , which is against the statutory vaccination requirement , also stood for election on their electoral lists . In the election on October 13, the party achieved 6.81% of the vote and won 11 seats in the Sejm (five members each from KORWiN and RN as well as Grzegorz Braun with his party "Confederation of the Polish Crown").

On the occasion of the 2020 presidential election , the party held primaries based on the American model, in which nine applicants competed. From these, Krzysztof Bosak emerged victorious on January 18, 2020 .
