Kong Fanyu ( Chinese  孔繁 玉 , born June 6, 1993 ) is a Chinese freestyle skier . She specializes in the aerials (jumping) discipline.

biography

Kong made her Freestyle World Cup debut on December 17th, 2010. In the Beida Lake winter sports station near Jilin , she jumped to 10th place and immediately won her first World Cup points. At the 2011 World Championships in Deer Valley , she achieved fifth place, the best result of her career to date. She achieved her first World Cup podium on February 19, 2011 with third place in Minsk . At the start of the 2011/12 World Cup season she finished third twice in Lake Placid , followed by another third place in Deer Valley . On March 10, 2012, she won her first World Cup in Moscow . At the end of the season, she finished sixth in the Aerials discipline.

Kong's best result in the 2012/13 season was a fourth place, at the 2013 World Championships in Voss she jumped to eleventh place. Also in winter 2013/14 a fourth place was her best result, which was not enough to qualify for the Olympic Games. There were three top 10 placements in the 2014/15 World Cup season, including a third place in Beijing. At the 2015 World Championships on Kreischberg , she jumped to 14th place. In the winter of 2015/16 Kong only competed in three World Cup competitions, but won that one on December 20, 2015 in Beijing. On the other hand, she did not get past eleventh place in winter 2016/17. Her best result in the 2017/18 World Cup was a third place, and she won the bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang .
