Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! ( Japanese. こ の 素 晴 ら し い 世界 に 祝福 を! , German for example: "A blessing for this wonderful world!"), Konosuba for short ( こ の す ば ), is a Japanese series of novels by Natsume Akatsuki, also available as a manga and anime series was adapted.

content

When the Hikikomori Kazuma Satō ( 佐藤 和 真 ) leaves the house after a long time, he saves a girl from being run over, but dies in the process. In the afterlife he meets the goddess of water Aqua ( ア ク ア , Akua ), who laughs because of the circumstances of his death: his rescue attempt was both useless, since the vehicle was only a tractor moving at walking pace and therefore harmless, and embarrassing he actually died of acute stress believing he was run over. She offers him to be reborn in an MMORPG- like world in order to defeat the Demon King, where he would be granted any divine object or ability. Due to her previous provocation, Kazuma decides to take Aqua with her against her will, who is forced to form an RPG party with him, since she cannot return until Kazuma's task is done.

Because of his only average attributes, with the exception of his above-average intelligence and maximum luck, which is, however, rather unimportant for adventure, he receives the lowest class as a normal adventurer. Aqua, on the other hand, has maximum attributes as a goddess, which is why she receives the class of archpriestess, but has only minimal luck and below-average intelligence, which is shown by the fact that she invests all of her skill points in party tricks. However, it still has its divine water and healing spells. Later she is joined by the master sorceress Megumin ( め ぐ み, ), who comes from a people of chūnibyō - young people with the delusion of being something special and theatrical speech - who refuse to learn anything other than an explosion spell. As a damage dealer of the party, however, she is only of limited use, as she can only cast this single spell once a day due to its strength and its low level, which also makes her unable to move. The last member is the crusader Darkness ( ダ ク ネ ス , Dakunesu ), an ultimate masochist, because she dreams of being abused by monsters, which is why she invests all skill points in defense so that she can be attacked longer. But she has no offensive whatsoever, which makes her the tank of the group.

Faced with this worst possible RPG party, Kazuma gives up the goal of defeating the Demon King relatively quickly and tries to lead a normal life, which is thwarted again and again by his involuntary encounters with the Demon King's generals.

Natsume Akatsuki published the work under the pseudonym Jitaku Keibihei ( 自 宅 警備 兵 , "house guard") - a self-name of Hikikomori - first on the website Shōsetsuka ni narō ( 小説家 に な ろ う , "Become a novelist"). Between December 20, 2012 and its completion on October 21, 2013, 120 chapters were created in five volumes.

In 2013 the publishing house Kadokawa Shoten became aware of him, who offered him to publish the novel professionally under their light novel - imprint Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko. The illustrations for this light novel series come from Kurone Mishima. By March 2016, the light novel had sold 1.5 million times, mainly driven by the anime broadcast which tripled the circulation.

On March 1, 2015 Hobirecords released the radio play Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen o! Kono Manatsu no Umi ni Sōran o! ( こ の 素 晴 ら し い 世界 に 爆 焔 を! こ の 真 夏 の 海 に 騒 乱 を! ). This was published again on June 1, 2015 and was also part of the limited version of the final volume of the light novel Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen o! at.

Anime

Studio Deen adapted the light novel as an anime series directed by Takaomi Takasaki, assisted by Shunji Yoshida. The character design comes from Kōichi Kikuta. The broadcast of the 10 episodes took place from January 14th to March 17th, 2016 after midnight (and thus on the previous TV day ) on Tokyo MX , as well as on Sun TV , TVQ Kyūshū Hōsō , Chiba TV , TV Kanagawa , with an offset of up to one week . TV Saitama , Gifu Hōsō , Mie TV Hōsō , BS11 and TV Asahi Channel 1. The Blu-rays and DVDs are due to appear from March 25, 2016 and contain a computer game as an extra.

A second season started on January 12, 2017 after midnight on Tokyo MX, and with an offset also on Sun TV, TVQ Kyūshū Hōsō, Gifu Hōsō, Mie TV, Chiba TV, TV Kanagawa, TV Saitama and BS11.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series under the title KONOSUBA - God's blessing on this wonderful world! as a simulcast for Japanese broadcasting with English subtitles worldwide except Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Western Europe.

The German free TV special interest broadcaster ProSieben Maxx has been showing the series under the title Konosuba in its anime afternoon program since July 17, 2020. For reasons of youth protection, three episodes can only be shown in the evening program.

music

The music for the series comes from Masato Kōda. The opening credits of the first season fantastic dreamer was sung by Machico and was released as a single on January 27, 2016. In the second season, the opening title Tomorrow was also used by Machico. The end titles Chiisana Bōkensha ( ち い さ な 冒 険 者 , "little adventurer") and in the second season Ouchi ni Kaeritai ( お う ち に 帰 り た い ) were sung by Sora Amamiya, Rie Takahashi and Ai Kayano under their role names.
